On 7 February 2025, Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board, and Yevhenii Kontorshchykov, UWEA’s analyst, visited Myrhorod to inaugurate an autonomous solar power plant installed at Preschool Educational Institution No. 12 “Svitlyachok.” The institution, which accommodates 185 children, is now equipped with a 10.4 kW rooftop solar PV system and a 12kWh battery storage unit.
The solar system was installed as part of the #Renewables4Ukraine initiative launched by the World Wind Energy Association and the Global100RE in cooperation with the UWEA. The project, worth €18,000, was funded by a charitable donation from the Finnish non-profit organisation EKOenergy to support Ukraine’s social infrastructure during the war.
According to Chairman of Myrhorod City Council Serhii Solomakha, the solar power plant will not only enhance the kindergarten’s energy security but also provide children with an environmentally friendly learning space, aligned with modern sustainability standards. The new system ensures a backup power supply, mitigating risks of heating and water supply disruptions.

The significance of this goes far beyond this individual project. It sends a message about the foundations on which a better, more peaceful, and prosperous world can be built. We are extremely grateful to everyone who made this solar installation possible.
“Our mission is to promote green energy, including among children. We help communities achieve energy independence because every installed kilowatt of renewable energy is not just a cost-saving measure—it’s an investment in their future. This is already our 14th solar power project and the fourth specifically for a preschool facility. We want our children to grow up and continue building Ukraine using clean and local energy sources,” commented Andriy Konechenkov.
The successful implementation of the “Svitlyachok” solar project is yet another testament to the fact that renewable energy is not just a modern trend but a real solution for ensuring a stable and secure future for Ukraine’s youngest generation.
